"Beings from Another Dimension have invaded your world!"
This year we are celebrating deviantART's 8th Birthday
To celebrate dA's birthday the Artistic Nude Gallery will be having a contest where you can WIN and have some fun while doing it!!!
There will also be a 3 month's subscription giveaway in the #artnudes this August 7th - and since it is in honor of dA's 8th b-day there will be given 8 subs of three months!!! Yes, it's true, even after the amazing prizes of this contest!!! Consider it a warm up... and a gift, from dA to You!
About...
The 8th Dimension in the Nude
Inspired by "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) - www.imdb.com/title/tt0086856/ " we present a contest where sci-fi meets surreality... think twilight zone, aliens, time travel, something bizarre or just simple yet inquietating... whatever it is, it must be YOUR interpretation of what is the 8th Dimension of Nude!!!
You are FREE to interpretate the thematic of the 8th Dimension and frame it in the Nude!
Starts: August 7th
Ends: Oct 8th
Please Note: We do not accept entries before August 7th, and also not after October 8th.
Jury
Sooo... are there any rules?
Only Photography is allowed in this contest. No manipulations. Only minor/ standard edits ( such as level, curve, color adjustments etc. )
Only photos that would normally belong in the Artistic Nude Gallery are allowed and must comply with the Theme of the contest:
It doesn't have to make sense (eh, does the 8th dimension makes sense?), but you must include an allusion to the 8th dimension in it. It can be surreal, abstract, emotional, expressive, classic and so on... but it must give anyone who sees it an impression of being... IN the 8TH DIMENSIONNNNNN....
oh, and it must be Nude! ARTISTIC NUDE!!!
Also, all submissions must be acceptable under dA's guidelines.
Please, in your artist's comments, let everyone know about this contest: Give them a link to the contest and let them know the end date (October 8)! This is a rule!
How many Deviations (Photography ONLY) can I Submit?
Only ONE per person. 1. Uno. Uma. Eine. Une...
Can I use an old picture?
You can use an old picture but I advise not to:
Because contests are supposed to bring up new works to the site, stirr up the creativity within our minds... and if you just use an old work to suit a theme instead of making a work about the theme you are hiding away from the whole point of contests and challenges!
So...
In case of a tie there will be a preference for new works that shows clear relation to the theme of the contest.
Ok, now that this is explained, again: you can use an old picture, but it'd be better if you didn't. But we'll let you do it if you really want to enter the contest but don't have time to make a new shooting session. This option, however is more for anyone who happens to have a photo within the theme of the contest and not to anyone who is just lazy!
I hope everyone understands this! If you have any doubts please note me!
#1 EDIT: In response to a doubt here is my reply:
In case of a tie there will be a preference for new works that shows clear relation to the theme of the contest.
I think this says it all. 2 months to do a new photo, or find a never submitted pic that matches the contest's theme. I think that is enough time to do it!
If not... if you happen to have a... "PERFECT piece, whose inclusion would bring their fans' attention to the contest AND contribute genuinely relevant content, but it's too old." then include it, please!
Because that's why I opened the way for old photos - for THESE cases!!!
Also, I never said that old works alone are inherently against the point of contests, but old works that do not match the theme!!
Finally, it was my first time opening for old pics, I had to make a warning for people with intentions to cheat with a pic that has nothing to do with the theme. I never intended to be unfair with anyone.
Now let's have some fun!!!
Where to Submit?
You will submit the work in a gallery made in purpose for the contest.
The category to submit to will be:
Contests & projects -> contests -> 2008 -> deviantART 8th Birthday -> 8th Dimension in the Nude
PLEASE NOTE THE CATEGORY WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL AUGUST 7TH That's right, you're getting a headstart!
Listen to the Bling Bling of the PRIZES:
1st place: 30 dev dollars + 1 year sub
2nd place: 20 dev dollars + 1 year sub
3rd place: 10 devdollars + 1 year sub
Runner-Ups (2) : 6 month subscription
It's inedit!!!
Because it is the 8th birthday of deviantART there will be 8 Honorary Mentions... winning a 1 month subscription each!
FAQ #234: What are Points?
This is for Artistic Nude: PHOTOGRAPHY ONLY!!!
So, any non-photography entries will be sent to their respective galleries (or to scraps in the case of faillure of recognition of what the work is)!!!
Wait! I'm not finding the category! Where is it?
You will only find it in day 7 of August. By then here's a quick way to find it:
Within the submission process you'll find a category called "Contests & projects". Click it. Then click Contests, after which you'll click 2008. There already? ok, now you'll see a lot of names of contests, please scroll until you find the gallery named deviantART 8th Birthday - click it! After that click the name of the contest and submit your piece there!!!

"You can't see them...but they can see you..."
Edit: I needed help! LOL Nevermind, found it!
Visiting dA after a year or more is fun. I've been maintaining a convo with one of my oldest dA friends in here. We both reply very late. I think we're gonna have a record of the oldest ongoing thread between 2 people in here! xD Anyway, I can't recall the last time I logged in but it was ugly AF. Today it's my b-day (35, OMFG, time flies! I still remember being a minor on dA!) and I came back and got a really nice surprise with dA's layout coming back a bit to the old times. Not really coming back, but it's very evocative. We're getting the green back (not the same but at least it's better than those awful dark or white ones) and some of the UI even reminds me of some stuff we used to have, like sidebars and shit. And the way we can now see the deviations from ppl we follow is cool too, and remind me of back then. FINALLY, I can get a quick sense of what I like or not, again. Thank you! -Oh, but... hummm... How do I mark as seen and delete them from there? They just keep on

I'm in a very bad situation and can't donate, so all I can do is spread the word and hope someone helps Ash. :hopeful:
Do you want to get Adventure Time-ified?
This is me in Adventure Time fashion, by alexsollazzo (https://www.deviantart.com/alexsollazzo) who is taking commissions at the moment and doesn't rip your eyes out (nor your wallet).
I super recommend him. He's a great artist/colorist & cool. Go, go, go! :#1:
