Together we will raise community spirit and community will within Photojournalism. But we can only do it together, as ONE!
Yesterday started a period of time dedicated to the Photojournalism sub-gallery known as Concerts & Musicians. You'll see DDs focused on that category in the next days and a REALLY special edition of an ABC article to come soon... It's like a project-educate week, only it'll take a few more time than a week!
It starts now: in this CR (Community Relations) edition you'll see the making-of of that ABC article and journal features!
Who's happy?

You are welcome to join us and spread the news & joy of music [PJ related] in your journals and all around dA (please do)... and send us some DD suggestions with deviations from that subcat too!

This is what I was being so crytic about in twitter!
[Coming up with an idea]Evan and I had the dream of doing ABC articles for each subcategory of photojournalism following project educate's spirit. Soon the dream has taken-over and we talked about getting more in touch with community, so what at first was going to be something to the community is now something FROM the community, By the community, To the community.
[Organizing an Event]First we browsed the gallery and selected about 20 photojournalists that dedicate themselves to the documenting of concerts and musicians. After that we drafted an invite with info on what we wanted to do and how the log would be used to do it (after edits, of course). We also asked what timezones were our guests on and which times would be best for them.
We waited. for replies and confirmations. Then we made the maths and selected a time where the maximum number of our guests who have replied would be able to attend it. We then send that info and prepared for the night chat LIVE session!
In the meantime we made contacts regarding a Bot for that night. We ended up with ARbot in DA house! Yo! and I found out it isn't that 2headed-monster I was thinking it would be! Thanks to peter aka $
Tachy-on for that and his patience! <3
Weeeeee!!!! We got BOT to log the chat!

The chatroom was cleaned and prepped for the night too and the time has come...
Now follows some clips of what happened in that "talk-show":

<givethemhorns> No, mee too.
<jazzylemonade> you mean us?
<helewidis> no
<helewidis> lol
<givethemhorns> I mean letters.
<jazzylemonade> hehe
<helewidis> I knew someone would ask that

<jeremysaffer> i dont know, im not very well versed in dev chat so if my chat ettiquite is that of a caveman i apologize,
<helewidis> the letters
<atea-cina> allright might be something wrong with my language settings

(giggles)
[Reactions to the studio & Introductions]<jazzylemonade> anyone mind turning up the heat, it's cold in this studio
<geeewocka> wheres the studio audience

<helewidis> geeewocka: this is a pilot episode

[23:09:20] <estudio> Welcome fellas.
[23:09:53] <helewidis> you guys are the very first guests of the very first session (pilot) of this ABC LIVE chat!

(yays, waves and bows)
My name, in case you guys dunno yet, is Evan. Helewidis is Eloisa, we're your Bonnie & Clyde.
<estudio>

<helewidis>

hi!
<atea-cina> i'm cornelia, 25 years old from germany.

<givethemhorns> Jana, 25 years old, Finland.
<geeewocka> Dan aka geee, I live/shoot here in sunny Sydney, Australia. I've been shooting for going on 3 years now, on behalf of various agencies
<jeremysaffer> jeremy, also 25, here in the states, been shooting over 10 years in the music industry
<jazzylemonade> I'm Jaz, I live in the north of england and i document the local indie scene
[Taken-Over]<estudio> awesome. so we're this bunch from different parts of the world and this is why this is a first test run for this chat..with panelists from different parts of the world to try see what and how the industry is like from
your side.
<helewidis> and what is photojournalism when it focus on concerts and musicians
<estudio> And if you've never worked on a foreign newsdesk before, this is what it somewhat feels like as well in real life. except we use phones.
<geeewocka> Australia is the last stop on every tour, this is where the artists generally holiday afterwards...if they even reach us (damn the financial status!) - we get 1-2 major tours on average twice a month if it's a good year
<jazzylemonade> i think people can't afford to go to australia on tour maybe
<givethemhorns> That's more than we have, for sure.
<atea-cina> pure contrast over here...germany is some kind of "must-tour-country"

<givethemhorns> Hell yeah. Lucky you.
<jeremysaffer> well it all goes with teir routeing.... depending on the band of course
(they went on about tours for a bit more, if you are curious, be sure not to miss the ABC article when it comes out!)
<estudio> alright, y'al know how this works?
<helewidis> they seem to have taken-over - which amuses me

estudio
<jeremysaffer> im awaiting instruction haha
<geeewocka> ^^
<atea-cina>

<estudio> Helewidis: i know.

like some UN Security Council saying "nuu nuuu my country is bettah than j0rs!

" haha!
[Near The End:]<estudio> initially the chat would go: "okay let's start with the letter A... what say?" but didnt quite turn out that way so you can imagine my frenzy editing this later with Helewidis.

The article will come as soon as we finish editing it. We have 3 hours of log and it was a very active session!

about that list, this is basically new model of pj, and there is one journalist trying to do that already: [link] thing it is a great idea, but it needs to be planned very good, and have some strict criteria (like reporter challenge on the site i linked to) either way it may end in total mess
good luck with the article (need more help?)
So is Musicians/Concerts going to be its own Category?? with subs? It should be!!

about that journo, is he doing it in dA? it seems he's doing it on a blog and on a much wider scale...
I ask this because this idea I presented is for photojournalism deviants only, and not just pros.
its also just a sketch right now, as I'm asking for feedback and acessing if the community wants it to happen or not.
criteria? sure! I agree. how strict? will have to ask feedback on that too, if this goes forward!
thaks for the tip!
