What I like more about “Dreaming” is the close approach to the photographic subject – a cat, and also the “classic portrait” feeling it has given by the pose and angle. I understand that the nature of the “model” is one of not staying put in the same place, thus making it very hard to focus and really choose a good framing – and for this I congratulate you!

However, there is one thing I’d do differently in here. I’m not saying it is the only way; just that it is a different way, and since you asked for my opinion I am here giving it: I’d either get even closer and focus on a detail of the cat’s visage, like the eye, some stripes or even its whiskers therefore avoiding the burned background (is it the sky?) in the composition OR I’d back down a bit more and get a whole new kind of picture, embracing more of the surroundings of the cat (which in my humble opinion could perhaps turn it more interesting) and also giving us a wider picture of it, a sense of completeness (and here I come from the idea of Gestalt, where my brain/cognition is predetermined to like better a whole instead of a half – not sure if I’m making myself clear on this, do let me know) with the full grasp of the whiskers and both eyes captured.

Ending, I’d also like to say that I like the tone you gave to this piece, giving it a feel of old aged photo/vintage and – I believe – underlining the beautiful mesh of the lightness of the picture in the whiskers area.

I hope you find this critique fair and/or helpful! :)
